Little warmth in this masonic handshake as Peverel website removes news of winning a new block

January 9, 2014 //  by Sebastian O'Kelly

RMBIOn the day the Office of Fair Trading announced its findings into the Cirrus scandal, Peverel Retirement declared it had won a new client: the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institute.

Peverel would be taking over the management of the 13-flat Farnfield Court in Croydon, south London.

The beleaguered property management – which has lost all its prime riverside sites in London and has been dumped by Berkeley Group, Barratt and its old benefactor McCarthy and Stone – slapped this triumph on the company’s website.

For some reason, it has now been removed and a chill has descended.

“We were completely unaware of the price-fixing issue involving Peverel, and did not know about its reputation,” says an RMBI employee. “We will certainly be keeping a close eye on the service charges.

“Also the contract is only for a year and will be reviewed before it is renewed. I do not know why the notice is no longer on Peverel’s website.”

This is a marked change of tone compared with Peverel’s news announcement in December.

Then Mark Hoyland, MD of Peverel Property Services, said: “Ever since work started on Farnfield Court we’ve enjoyed a very positive relationship with the RMBI, so it’s extremely satisfying to see our hard work pay off and residents moving in.”

It’s a pretty fair bet that the mason’s got taken here. The boys with little trowels and funny aprons didn’t do their homework. LOL!

If they have to make a song and dance about getting a whole 13 flats you can only really say “aw” and shake your head in pity…….

    AM,
Compared to the thousands of flats Peverel have recently lost gaining 13 is minuscule.
However, even i, one of the fiercest critics of Peverel, have to acknowledge that the appointment to manage from one of the most respected charities in the UK was of great comfort to Peverel.
To be able to say to other prospective clients the RMBI use us was of huge significance.
“If the RMBI trust us, you can” is a vital marketing tool.
As reported the news of the appointment has been taken off the Peverel Retirement website and it appears that the RMBI are conducting a review of the appointment.
For Peverel to now lose this development, would at the very least prove to be very embarrassing.

No Michael thats just the PR they spin and people’s gullability 🙂 . Anyone with a brain and prepared to use it, when looking at an agent will look at tehlsit of clients and ask about the portfolio, ” Peveral shiny happy salesperson then mumbles “13”, potential client says “oh 13 blocks”, PSHS, “erm no 13 flats”. if LKP or Campaign against retirement leasehold exploitation achieve anything, its to impress on leaseholders that owning a home and taking on an agent can’t be left to lazy skim reading of the glossy brochure,.website and testimonials, or the patter of the PSHS.

Ar per ME. I certainly hope that the RMBI are conducting a review of the appointment. Their “Management” need to redeem themselves urgently, and make it publicly known. I have also commented further on the Campaign against retirement leasehold exploitation site
