Yep – reminded my MP about the debate – he is already a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group on the topic. Sir Peter Bottomley has worked hard to get this on the parliamentary agenda.
Leaseholders need to capitalise on media publicity – FT July, Guardian now,
    – great!.

Those leaseholders that watched the debate will be of good heart as they go into 2017.
Sir Peter Bottomley and Jim Fitzpatrick have done us all proud.

I suggest to every leaseholder to take the time and watch the debate. (Thank the gods for Parliamentary TV. And to LKP for working to bring light to these matters ) I was a little disappointed at how sparsely attended the debate was by MPs. Surely every MP in the country has leaseholders in their constituencies?

Freeholders rely on deceit, obfuscation and their superior wealth to keep exploiting the leaseholders. Leaseholders will continue to suffer until proper legislation is in place – and we need to push for that.

Service charges, (for largely fictional services) dodgy managing agents, phantom freeholders, bullying solicitors, ground rent exploitation, dilapidation (has anyone looked into the state of freeholder managed buildings who have a ‘long term interest’ in the Building? ) insufficient enforcement for what little legislation is in place to protect the leaseholder.

Looking forward to see how the law makers intend to tackle all these. Someone suggested the ministry of justice should get involve in some of the worst case. I totally agree.

    Hello people,
I am unable to find any programme that transmits the debate that took place on Tuesday 20 Dec.
Can anyone please guide me to one.
    Thank you

      Go to
      http://parliamentlive.tv/event/index/5069cc08-aeee-4451-93d8-fef9b0802407?in=14:31:10
Then use the search tool top right hand key word: leasehold
Change date function if necessary to 20 December

Make a cup of tea, and take notes – it’s a long one, unscrupulous freeholders have many faults.
